About Me
I have always been sensitive, empathetic, and a good listener, but I think what brought me to psychotherapy was my Mom. Moms bring us all to therapy, but in my case, I wanted to understand how my Mom’s early childhood experiences haunted her throughout her life. Why did she need to self-medicate through food even though she had a loving family and spouse? Why did her eating get so out of control that it ultimately took her life?
During her final years, I studied Holistic Nutrition with the hope that I could save her and learn healthy habits for my own family, in order to break the pattern of addiction and depression. A healthy diet, exercise, and a mindfulness practice are a great start, but until core issues are addressed, real change is not possible. Although I was unable to help my Mom, she inspired me to leave my career as a teacher, and receive my training in psychotherapy.
Through my own personal therapy, I have learned that I can’t save anyone else, but what I can do is hold space for you to be vulnerable, really listen, ask thought provoking questions, guide you through personal growth exercises, and help you make connections and/or see the big picture. It is my honour to hear your story.
